Come prepared to get bruised and please wear tight fitted clothing and bring long sleeves or elbow pads if you want to try elbow circle. Find new paths into and out of old tricks and create new ones in the process. Prerequisite: Ability to invert at solo\, foot locks. \nSilks – Duo Silks (1.5 hr) – feel the squeeze\nDo you love supporting other people? Letting others hang from you while enduring various amounts of pain and cinching? Then this is definitely the workshop for you. We will get an overview of a variety of different ways to hold weight while on the fabric and delve into the mechanics of balancing while doubled up in the air. There will also be directed play for the invention of new basing techniques. Then we will move past positions and into transitions – how to seamlessly move from one basing position to another\, without your act looking like another “trick\, pose” routine. Prerequisite: Ability to invert in the air\, an open mind about basing AND flying\, and the mindset to always take care of the person who’s in the air with you. \nSilks – Spread ‘Em and Smile (1.5 hr)\nTake your fabric work to the next level with new and creative poses\, splits and transitions. Discover just how far your legs will go as you delve into unexplored aerial territory\, twisting and contorting in awe-inspiring\, but secretly simple\, ways. Prerequisite: Ability to invert at top of silk\, dance locks. \nSilks – Understanding the Knot (1.5 hr) – next level silks\nAt some point in your silks journey\, the time comes to break down all those crazy knots and belays\, and understand what is keeping you from plummeting to the floor. In this workshop\, we delve into the basics of these knots and holds while learning some higher level tricks. See a back flip into a single knee hang – learned broken down into slow\, attainable steps – and discover how handstands can end in windmills. This workshop is for intermediate to advanced students. Prerequisites: Ability to invert in the air (multiple times in one class) and efficiently complete wraps for at least 2 drops (ex: double star drop). \nAbout Caitlyn:\nCaitlyn Larsson is a jack of all trades\, and attempting to become master of a few. She is a flying trapeze and aerial artist\, who moonlights as a travel and content writer in her spare time. She received a BFA in theater and education from New York University and after a brief stint as a professional tour director (If you look out the right side of the bus\, you’ll see the Statue of Liberty)\, she discovered and fell in love with circus. After sprinting off to England for some whirlwind training at Circomedia in flying trapeze\, aerial arts and acrobatics\, Caitlyn became a roving circus vagrant\, traveling the globe performing and teaching. Quickly realizing that the wandering circus lifestyle is not always the most lucrative or stable\, especially when attempting to keep up with those pesky NYU loans\, she fell back on her impeccable grammar and highly praised writing skills to help pay the bills. Now\, with a ‘work hard and smart’ work ethic\, Caitlyn balances out her life as a teacher\, performer\, director and writer with grace and dignity\, and only a few harried late nights. \nShe can be found teaching workshops and performing original circus acts around the world\, all the while enjoying the freedom of writing on the go. She spent 2 years in San Juan\, Puerto Rico\, employed as the new rig manager for Trapeze School New York\, crafting shows for Bahia Urbana in Old San Juan\, helping with the inaugural International Circus Festival in PR\, and plotting ways to bring Clowns Without Borders to the island. She took some time to gallivant around Fiji and New Zealand\, attempting to surf and teaching workshops to locals. There was a stint in San Francisco\, meeting colorful West Oakland locals\, and the direction of a full length circus show in Dallas before fleeing the country for some rest\, relaxation and more workshops and performance in SE Asia and Australia. Currently she can be found in Melbourne\, studying exercise science by day and moonlighting as Marilyn in her one woman comedy show at night.

SUMMARY:Beginner Pole Series - The Nibbler
DESCRIPTION:The Nibbler – Intro to Pole Dancing \n6-Week Beginner Pole Series \nSunday 11am-12:30pm\nOctober 16th- November 27 (no class Nov 13)\nCost: 6 week equipment pass – $170 plus tax\nMin 4; max 12\n\n\n\nJoin this 6 week series designed especially for beginners. Class begins with a full body warm-up  followed by conditioning exercises to help strengthen and stretch your pole muscles and core.  Each week you will learn an exciting new spin and transition on the pole.  By the end you’ll be comfortably dancing a flowy and gorgeous choreographed routine and beginning to climb off the ground.\n\nIf this is your first time\, PERFECT!  This is the right class for you!  Curious about what to expect?  Check out this article on What to Expect in Your First Class.\n\n\n\n8 Reasons to Try Pole Dancing:\n\n\n1. It’s Risqué
\n“The stereotype of what pole dancing means to the majority of people\, although changing and getting better every day\, is part of the allure to some women\,” says instructor Tracy Traskos\, of NY Pole. It’s also a great conversation topic at parties or even at work. \n2. It’s like Role Playing\nBesides the fact that you get to wear 6-inch stilettos when you work out\, you also get to be a sex siren for an hour. Coupled with building the leg and arm strength needed to climb the pole and hold yourself up and the coordination to follow the choreography\, you get to do moves like head and hip rolls\, mimicking the sexy dancers you often see at strip clubs (while toning at the same time!) \n3. Female Bonding\n“Women who take the classes together create great friendships while bonding over the fun of pole dancing\,” Traskos says. “Also\, no one is catty or judgmental so it’s a place you can be free to look foolish if you want to!” \n4. It’s an Accomplishment
\n“Participants feel like they have accomplished something great they never really thought possible\,” Traskos says. Plus\, it’s a safe\, fun\, and effective way to learn the art of pole dancing. At an advanced level\, pole dancing is both a cardio and strength workout\, which can burn 800 calories an hour or more! \n5. You Get Individual Attention
\nRather than group fitness classes\, where one instructor is often teaching a dozen participants or more\, pole dancing classes are smaller and more intimate. You get a lot of individual attention from the instructor\, similar to personal training sessions. \n6. It’s Much Harder than it Looks \n“This aspect of it builds confidence and improves body image and the ability to tackle other seemingly out of reach goals in life\,” Traskos says. “This confidence inevitably blends into other areas of your life\, including relationships.” \n7. It’s Four Exercises in One\n“[Pole dancing] effectively combines strength training\, endurance\, and flexibility training into one fun activity\,” Traskos says. “It’s yoga\, Pilates\, TRX\, and Physique 57 all wrapped into one. And in high heels!” \n8. It Teaches the Power of Bodyweight Workouts\n“Most woman work way harder in pole class than in the gym\,” says Traskos\, who was a personal trainer for 15 years before joining the team at NY Pole. “There is a time and place for the gym\, but pole appeals to women who hate the gymmor never even go. And most of the exercises we do\, like climbing the pole\, are a lot tougher than doing biceps curls.”

All levels\, all ages\, all people are welcome to join the AcroYoga Community. This class provides a safe environment to explore trust\, connection & playfulness. SUMMARY:Dance Your Way to the Top
DESCRIPTION:Dance Your Way To The Top \nWith Guest Instructor Michelle Natoli! \nThis workshop examines some of the more creative and intricate ways to make your way up the pole. All too often we are simply trying to gain enough height to execute that big move. In these 90 minutes we will look at some complex climb sequences that will make you look and feel like you are dancing your way to higher ground. Why just climb when you can ascend?! Best suited for Intermediate level and up. Minimum of 8! \n  \nMichelle Natoli Bio: \nMichelle Natoli is a New York based pole dance/fitness instructor and performer who has been teaching Pilates for over a decade. She currently teaches pole classes at Body & Pole while continuing to operate ABsolution Pilates\, which she opened in 2005. \nWith a background in gymnastics and a degree in Theater from Fordham University at Lincoln Center\, it was inevitable that she would fall instantly in love with pole dancing as it marries the two passions she had previously felt she was forced to choose between. Her pole dance journey began six years ago and since then she has had the luxury of training under some of the industry’s best athletes/artists. \nMichelle was chosen as a Top 10 Finalist in the 2012 US Pole Dance Federation Amateur Championships and competed in the Female All Star Division of the National Aerial Pole Art Championship 2013. SUMMARY:Floor Foundations - From the Ground Up
DESCRIPTION:Floor Foundations (From The Ground Up): \nwith Guest Instructor Michelle Natoli! \nThis 75 minute workshop focuses on a variety of fun\, dynamic\, sometimes sensual\, sometimes acrobatic\, and often sassy movement on the floor. You’ll leave this class with many key elements to weave together in your own way to create your next floor routine or simply feel comfortable moving between poles. Appropriate for students of all levels. Minimum of 8! \n  \nMichelle Natoli’s Bio: \nMichelle Natoli is a New York based pole dance/fitness instructor and performer who has been teaching Pilates for over a decade. She placed 3rd in the Professional Level 4 Division of Pole Sport Organization’s Atlantic Pole Championship 2013. A few months later Michelle placed 2nd at the Pole Classic at Pole Expo 2013. In 2014 she represented the United States in the III Pole World Cup @ Arnold Classic Brazil and Paragon: An International Pole Dance Championship. Michelle is the first ever IDSA World Pole Dace Championship at Sport Standard Silver Medalist. She is a Brand Ambassador for PoleFit by Bad Kitty. \nShe is X-Pert certified and is also one of the first ever ElevatED certified instructors. Michelle combines her extensive background in core strengthening and alignment with her passion for pole dance to create a learning experience that is dynamic\, challenging\, and fun. \nLinks to recent performances:
