Aloha!.... I’m Amanda Furgiuele, the owner and instructor of The Pole Room.
I’ve been teaching fitness classes since 2001—from co-leading rock climbing, kayaking, surfing, and caving expeditions, to teaching collegiate level competitive Fencing (that’s sword fighting if you didn’t know), and of course, Pole Dancing. My diverse background in martial arts, ballet, modern dance, yoga, Pilates, ice climbing, hiking, horseback riding, skydiving, surfing, backpacking, aerial arts, fencing, canyoning, traveling, and just about anything else outdoorsy has allowed me to mold different styles of movement (as well as different styles of instruction) into one cohesive, challenging, and fabulous series of workouts! I try to learn something new every day, which has lead to my current endeavors completing my Pilates, Personal Training, and Hoopnotica certifications.
Pole Dancing came about in much the same fashion most of my passions do—I had wanted to try it for years, but never had the opportunity. I was never in the right place at the right time (with the right shoes). That is, until I took a short series of classes on Maui and became absolutely hooked! I repeated my intro pole class, got my own pole, trained on my own, as well as in San Francisco, and the rest is pole history! Pole Dancing has become my latest, and definitely favorite fitness pursuit. I am continually seeking further training in pole as well as in other sport and dance techniques as this fitness trend spins to the forefront!
The Pole Room offers series classes to teach all levels of pole dancing to everyone, no matter your size, shape, age, even gender. If you’re serious, we’ve got a place for you at the Pole Room. I believe in providing a judgment-free space to empower women, women-identified, and men in their own form of self-expression. There are absolutely NO mistakes in pole dancing, only each individual’s interpretation of the movement. All the variations we learn are what make dancing so beautiful and so much fun!
In addition to our popular Pole Dancing classes, The Pole Room also offers a sizzling and exciting array of workshops, specialty classes, guest dancers, and retreats. Check out our Classes page to learn more.
Pole Dancing is about self-awareness, self-expression, and pure confidence. The only people we aim to please are ourselves. And the more often you come to class, the more confidence you will gain, the more strength you will build, and the more fun you will have. We’re putting the finesse back into fitness. Come take a walk around the pole and put some spin in your step! It’s the everyday EROTIC at THE POLE ROOM!
